LJDFA is seeking a senior attorney with a minimum of ten (10) years’ legal experience, preferably in civil defense, to assist in defending healthcare providers and institutions in complex medical negligence litigation. Primary Responsibilities Manage a caseload, including fact investigation and development of case strategy. Evaluate and analyze cases to develop litigation strategy. Draft pleadings, correspondence, motions, replies, and research memoranda. Propound and respond to discovery. Prepare case summaries, medical chronologies, deposition summaries/outlines, and witness outlines. Appear in court to argue evidentiary motions, handle hearings, and attend Case Management Conferences. Defend and take depositions. Identify, retain, and manage communications with expert witnesses. Prepare for and participate in settlement negotiations. Contribute to trial preparation efforts and develop and execute comprehensive case strategies. Serve as first- or second- chair trial attorney. Develop and execute trial strategies, including opening/closing statements, voir dire, jury instructions, and witness/expert preparation and examinations. Conduct legal research.Cultivate and maintain client relationships.Actively engage in attorney mentoring sessions and internal training opportunities. Qualifications Candidates should possess: A minimum of ten (10) years’ litigation experience, preferably in medical malpractice. Strong knowledge of Civil Procedure, Torts, Evidence, and Legal Research and Writing. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Sound legal reasoning and analytical skills. Strong attention to detail and organizational ability. Ability to work independently as well as contribute effectively as a member of our team. Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines. Maintain a professional attitude and demeanor. Possess the ability to prioritize duties. Exhibit professionalism, reliability, and responsiveness. Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft, Westlaw/Lexis, and PDF optimization.Licensed to practice in California and in good standing with the State Bar of California.
