Georgia Public Defender Council Macon Regional/Satellite Office Now Hiring: Two Experienced Criminal Defense Attorneys Major Felony / Conflict Caseload – Macon, Cordele and Ocmulgee Judicial Circuits The Georgia Public Defender Council (GPDC) seeks two full-time, experienced criminal defense attorneys to join the Macon Regional/Satellite Office to handle major felony conflict cases arising in the Macon, Cordele and Ocmulgee Judicial Circuits. These positions are dedicated to high-level felony representation where conflicts prevent local public defender offices from providing representation. Position Overview Attorneys will: • Represent indigent clients charged with serious felony offenses, including complex multi-count cases • Manage cases from appointment through disposition, including jury trials • Conduct motion practice, evidentiary hearings, and negotiations • Collaborate with investigators and mitigation specialists • Travel between Macon and Cordele as needed Required Qualifications • Active membership in the State Bar of Georgia in good standing • Minimum 5 years felony trial experience (jury trial experience required) • Demonstrated experience handling serious violent felony cases • Ability to independently manage a high-complexity caseload • Strong courtroom advocacy and litigation skills Preferred: • Prior public defender or conflict defense experience • Experience with homicide, armed robbery, aggravated assault, or multi-defendant cases
